Having used Money 2004 for some years, I've just upgraded my computer and have installed Money 2005 instead (using the Money 2005 UK QFE2 download). Everything is fine EXCEPT that in Portfolio, the market value of my investments is showing incorrectly - typically everything is £1,000 too high.
At first I thought that this looked similar to the problem described at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/889246/en-gb, namely "After you convert your data file to Microsoft Money 2005, you may experience one or more of the following issues: ... The market value of your investment appears incorrect." The explanation is that the Money file was converted before the QFE2 fix was installed, but I've double-checked the version number and reconverted the file without fixing the problem.
I also thought it might be the February 29th reporting bug mentioned at http://money.mvps.org/faq/article/543.aspx but I've changed all my Feb 29th transactions without fixing the problem.
From the look of the discussion at http://www.accountantforums.com/market-value-incorrect-t75518.html, this was a known problem that might never have been fixed in Money 2005.
So, what are my choices? I could go back to Money 2004 (though I'd have to re-enter some data). Or I could put put up with the wrong market values. Any way of fixing it?
Weirdly, the problem goes away if I view the Portfolio "by account", but I really want a combined view since I have the same investment in more than one account.
Any help gratefully received!
